Carson Valley’s ‘Haunted Weekend’ creates Halloween mood

Ghost hunters, history buffs and fun-seekers: conquer your fears, pack your Ouija Board and tarot cards and be irresistibly drawn to Carson Valley for “Haunted Weekend”, Oct. 22-25, to experience ghosts on the streets and in the cemeteries.

Activities begin with the “Haunted Minden Ghost Walk” Thursday night, Oct. 22. Tours depart from the CVIC Hall on Esmeralda Street in Minden at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 a person.

Ghosts from Gardnerville’s past will tell their stories during “The Haunted Gardnerville Ghost Walk” departing Friday night, Oct. 23, from the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 1477 U.S. Highway 395 in Gardnerville at 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.

If you are “dying” to tour of one of Nevada’s oldest cemeteries, join the “Haunted Genoa Cemetery Tour” on Saturday night, Oct. 24. Leaves crunch under your feet and whirl in the cold fall wind as you stroll through the cemetery and “meet” pioneers from Nevada’s past. Guided tours depart every 15 minutes starting at 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and tickets are $5 a person.

Step back in time on the “Haunted Genoa Ghost Walk”, Sunday, Oct. 25, as you learn about the hangings, murders and suicides in Nevada’s first permanent settlement. Guided tours depart from the Courthouse Museum at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and tickets are $5 a person.
