Red Rock Canyon in southern Nevada offers some of the best sandstone climbing in the world. This spring, experienced climbers and those new to the sport will test their skills on the canyon walls that divide Red Rock Canyon at the 7th annual “Mountain Gear Presents: Red Rock Rendezvous.”

The rock climbing festival at the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area near Las Vegas offers clinics for advanced and intermediate climbers on Saturday and Sunday, March 20 and 21. Registration is $99 per person and includes two days of clinics, a Friday night opening celebration, a Saturday night dinner buffet, a Sunday morning pancake breakfast, and service projects to assist in the environmental conservation of Red Rock Canyon and Spring Mountain.
Returning this year, the “UClimb Intro to Climbing Day” will be offered for less experienced climbers. The “Intro” day will be held on Friday, March 19, 2010. The full-day instruction clinics will teach basic climbing techniques. Beginners can register for the optional gear package that includes harness, helmet, shoes, belay device, carabineer, chalk bag and a membership to the Access Fund. The gear package with “Intro” day and weekend climbing clinics is $349 per person. Without the gear package, the cost is $179 per person.
New for 2010 is the mountain biking clinic on Friday, March 19 that will teach basic biking skills. The Friday mountain biking clinic along with the Saturday and Sunday climbing clinics runs $159 and includes the rental of a mountain bike provided by Specialized Bikes.

Red Rock Rendezvous benefits The Access Fund, a national non-profit organization dedicated to keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment. In addition, event proceeds benefit the American Safe Climbing Association, the American Alpine Club, Friends of Red Rocks and the Las Vegas Climbers Liaison Council.
