Arrive at the Lake Mead Cruises’ Landing and a group of huge fish and colorful ducks will be part of your greeting committee. They’ll invite you to step on board the Desert Princess, a Mississippi River Style Paddlewheeler, for a fantastic cruise on one of the most scenic lakes in a high desert area.
The Desert Princess will reach a top speed of about 7 miles an hour as it makes its way to Hoover Dam. What you will see is very different from lakes in other parts of the country. There are no trees along the shore. Instead there is a beautiful background of mountains and lots of desert vegetation. The mountains vary in color from granite to flaming red, and every hour of the day they look different. You will see that as you pass by the Paint Pots of Fortification Mountain. Often desert big horn sheep can be seen going up the sheer cliffs of the mountain side. The view of Hoover Dam is a highlight and really magnificent to see from the Desert Princess.
Cruise peacefully for approximately 90 minutes over the sparkling waters of Lake Mead with no stops! Mid-day sightseeing cruises are fully narrated, and our friendly Captain welcomes passengers to the pilot house for outstanding photo opportunities and even a chance to drive the boat!
