Hot August Nights: Downtown Reno fills with people and classic cars . Photo by davechiu.It’s almost time to bust out the poodle skirts and classic cars because Hot August Nights is just around the corner. From August 1-10, Reno and Sparks will be taken over by classic cars, Rock n’ Roll and visitors reliving a “blast from the past” and enjoying what the 50s and 60s were all about.
To get things started, there will be a pre-kick off party in Victorian Square, Sparks on Aug. 4 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. where visitors can check out the cars, listen to live music and dance the night away.
For those who can’t make it down to Victorian Square, there are many places to check out the cars and fun. The 2008 Hot August Nights venues are: Atlantis Casino Resort, Circus Circus, Downtown Reno, Grand Sierra Resort, Peppermill Hotel Casino, Reno Events Center, Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, Silver Legacy Resort and Casino, The Summit and Victorian Square.
Hot August Nights is more than just cars and poodle skirts, it’s also about the music and memories. There will be entertainers like The Crystals, The Contours, Hotel California and many others. Check the schedule.
For the romantics, Hot August Nights will also feature a prom where you bring your sweetheart and relive the days of youth. Sponsored by Macys, the prom will be held at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino on Thursday, Aug. 7 from 8 p.m. to midnight.
