Spring is here, which means Carson City/Carson Valley golf courses are swinging in the season with new course improvements, offerings and equipment. Here’s what’s new at the courses known as the Divine 9:
Carson Valley Golf Course, named “Best of the Valley” for four years in a row, has improved the approach to the second green by reshaping the creek between the fairway and approach. In 2008, Dayton Valley Golf Club received 4.5 stars out of five in the
“Best Places to Play” issue of Golf Digest. This course has hosted the PGA Tour Qualifying event for 15 years, making Dayton Valley a popular spot for tournaments.
Eagle Valley East Golf Course recently added forward tees on seven of their holes, making play for families easier. The staff has planted more than 250 trees to visually enhance the course. Over at Eagle Valley West Course you can find newly refurbished tees and sand traps in the off season. Along the course, overgrown sagebrush and underbrush will be removed to improve aesthetics and pace of play.
Empire Ranch Golf Course strives to remain competitive with its golf packages; rates remain unchanged for the fourth consecutive year, making this course the best value in the current economy. The Lakes Course at Genoa Lakes is host to several tournaments, including the U.S. Open Qualifying and the Nevada State Amateur tournament. Genoa Lakes Resort Course features a variety of elevation changes, visually tight fairways and numerous water hazards for a memorable challenge. Carved into the Sierra Nevada mountain range, it features lush green fairways juxtaposed with the bordering natural grasses and sagebrush.
Silver Oak Golf Course recently launched a new Web site, www.silveroakgolf.com), which features golf specials, events, and online booking capabilities. Additional features include a new fleet of golf carts, an upgraded lunch menu at the restaurant and an exclusive partnership with the Executive Women’s Golf Association. Sunridge Golf Club features tight fairways, challenging side hill and downhill lies, serious elevation changes and large greens – many of the mounded variety.
