Since 1998, Pahrump Valley has celebrated the spirit and culture of the region’s earliest American Indian inhabitants with its annual social powwow.
The 10th annual celebration is coming up November 21 through November 23 at Petrack Park, on the corner of Highway 160 and Basin across from Home Depot, and incorporates tribal dancers resplendent in native dress, traditional songs, arts and crafts, tribal booths, and authentic Indian teepees. There will also be cash prizes of $6,000 each awarded to the winners of a dance competition and drum competition. The Grand Entry is scheduled between 11:30 a.m. and noon both Saturday and Sunday.
Camping and showers are available at the park and electric hookups cost only $30 for RVs and vendors. The host hotel is the Saddlewest and reservations can be made by calling 800-433-3987. Rates are $52.32 per standard room night. Join the celebration as participants and spectators celebrate the powwow’s 10th anniversary.
