Photo by Robert BryeAmerica’s premier whitewater event, the Reno River Festival, will take place May 9-11 at the Truckee River Whitewater Park in downtown Reno. In it’s fifth year, the event will feature professional competitions with the world’s top whitewater athletes, competitions open to amateur paddlers, whitewater clinics, and an expo with all of the latest, hottest gear for hitting the water. Other events at this year’s festival include mountain bike speed trials and the Run Amuck relay race.
If you need to refuel after your kayaking clinic or relay run, stop by the New Belgium Beer Garden and one of the many food vendors on hand at this year’s festival. For some dry-land entertainment, check out the live bands on stage all three days starting at 10 a.m.
Stop by the Nevada Magazine/Nevada Commission on Tourism booth to visit with a few of us from the Traveling Nevada Blog. We’ll be at the event all weekend getting muddy in the Run Amuck relay, getting soaked at the kayak clinics, and basically just having a great time!
