Skydive Tahoe

I talked a few weeks ago about taking a glider ride out of the Carson Valley and over Lake Tahoe, and now I want to mention that out of that same airport (Minden/Tahoe) you can also take the ultimate plunge—a skydiving trip.

Skydive Tahoe is based out of Minden/Tahoe. They jump year round from 13,000 feet above ground. The scenery from that altitude is incredible. They say you can see Lake Tahoe all the way until you get to about 4,000 feet from the ground.

One of my friends took a jump with them a few months ago, and had this to say about it:

We dropped through the toes of the misty Sierra cloud with pellets of frozen moisture whacking our goggles and pummeling our skin at 180 MPH. The acceleration was familiar; the duration was not. I noticed three things: That every chemical in my body that reacts to fear or stress was flooding my brain in almost intolerable amounts, the ground, so far away and unchanging, seemed to be a constant no longer relevant to my equation, and breathing required an acute mental focus which I was temporarily unable to muster.

I know some of you would really dig that feeling. So check out Skydive Tahoe and take a look at this video I found of one of their jumps:
