There must be something special about polarized sunglasses because the green of the forest that surrounded me was so vibrant. The sky looked extra blue and the textures of the varied vegetation seemed pronounced. The aspens were shimmering in the light breeze. The purples, reds, yellows and oranges of the wildflowers exploded in the grassy meadows.
Squaw Valley enables disadvantaged kids to enjoy skiing, snowboarding

The program is the second of six on-slope Squaw Valley events with SkiDUCK, a new nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of disabled and underprivileged children by sharing the joys of skiing and snowboarding.

Alpine Meadows Ski Resort opening Dec. 5

The resort offers beginner through advanced terrain via Roundhouse high-speed quad chair and Meadow double chair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather and conditions permitting.
