Hanging around Las Vegas in the Summer can be, I’ll just say, hot. Even the nighttime temperatures can reach into the 80s, so if you can’t be by the pool, you might want to find another option for cooling down.

No problem.

A staple of Las Vegas is located just off The Strip and serves one of the best cold desserts I’ve ever had. It’s called Luv-It Frozen Custard. Here’s how they describe their frozen custard:

  • Richer Flavor with an Egg Base (has more consistency and more satisfying)
  • Less Fat and Sugar than Most Premium Ice Creams (low sugar and fat content)
  • Smoother and Creamier Texture (no ice crystals as in ice cream or ice milk)
  • Old-Fashioned Homemade Taste (we make it fresh every day)

The Chocolate Bar, Reno

the chocolate bar in renoThe Chocolate Bar. Three little words. This isn’t your ordinary “get a drink after a hard day at work” bar. This bar is the perfect place to go when you want a “girl’s night out,” to take a special date to or if you are hanging out with friends in downtown and you want a chic bar to have a drink in.

One of the special things about the Chocolate Bar is that their drinks are not only divine, they have desserts to die for.

I’ve been to the Chocolate Bar a few times and each time I’m there, I never fail to have a great time. They have different types of chocolate martinis, other types of cocktails, different types of chocolate truffles, chocolate fondue and more.

The fondue is my favorite. For about $10 for two people, you receive a bowl of...

Want a Mexican restaurant where you can have fun with a group of friends and get your money’s worth of food? Then head over to Bertha Miranda’s Mexican Restaurant and Cantina off of Mill Street in downtown Reno.

My friend and I went there the other night because of a tradition that began a couple years ago with a couple of my friends. Because we are still in college, after finals we go celebrate at Bertha Miranda’s. One of my friends just finished summer school, so Bertha Miranda’s – here we came!

Every time I have been to the restaurant, I have never had to wait for a table. Maybe it’s just good timing or luck, but I’m not one to complain about that. The service is...

If you spent the day shopping at the Summit or having fun in the South Reno area and are now hungry, try the Italian restaurant Cortina Ristorante and Bar located in the Summit Sierra Mall area. You won’t be disappointed.

As a surprise for a special occasion, my friend decided to take me to Cortina. The outside didn’t look all that fancy, but don’t let looks deceive you. I was pleased the moment we stepped through the door.

When you walk through the door, there is a bar immediately to your left. It’s very nice if there is a waiting list. We had reservations for 6 p.m. but there weren’t very many people and we were seated immediately.

The waiter was prompt in asking what we wanted to drink. He was a kind, gentle older man...
