A quick look this morning at Tahoe area ski resorts shows us what the latest storm left behind:

• Sugar Bowl, Squaw Valley USA, and Kirkwood are all boasting 12 feet of base at the lower elevation
• Alpine Meadows and Boreal report 10 feet of base
• Homewood is reporting 8 feet of base
• Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose are reporting 6 feet of base

Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort has presented a plan to expand by adding more lifts, runs, and adding a lodge in Mount Charleston’s Lee Canyon.

The plans include removing some lifts and adding more to bring the total number from four to twelve, and adding runs to bring the total number to 51. It will be done in two phases, and will make Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort a formidable resort no matter the location. It’s currently the only resort in southern Nevada and the only resort close enough to the Las Vegas Strip to be a part of a Las Vegas ski trip.

If approved, the total implementation will take ten years.
